You have reached the professional website for Dr. George Gonzalez, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Anthropology (Religion and Culture) at Baruch College—CUNY. I study the ways in which American ‘religion’ and neoliberal ‘capitalism’ are mutually constituting and what this imbrication implies for social criticism, critiques of capital, and the possibilities for social activism.
Trained in an interdisciplinary discipline, religious studies, my research straddles the borders between social scientific and humanistic inquiry.
